There are a lot of free number charts online, but the design of the chart cannot help children understand the concepts of counting and sequencing. Some parents may just ask children to recite the numbers from 1-100, but a good learning method indeed can help children learn a lot of important concepts of arithmetic. By following the teaching methods below and using the checklist, parents can help your children learn counting and sequencing.
坊間有很多免費1-100 數字表,但其設計並未能協助孩子了解數數及數序。部分家長會叫孩子背1-100。雖然背亦是一種方法,但孩子末必了解背後數學概念。我們不要忽略基礎數學概念,因為會影響孩子日後學習更深的數學。只要跟著以下的教學方法及利用數字表的checklist,父母可以幫助孩子學習數數及數序。

Teaching procedures: 教學次序:
-Learn the sequence of 1-10
Don’t be too urgent to teach 1-100. Otherwise, some children may lose the motivation to learn as it is too difficult for them to learn. Teach 1-10 first. With real objects in daily life, such as 10 apples and 10 bears, you can teach your child to count from 1 to 10 first. You can also teach the concept of +1. For example, one apple plus one more apple, it will become 2 apples. And 2 apples with one more apple, it will become 3 apples. If your child can do it, let him/her tick the first box of the checklist. Remember to praise him/her.
-先讓孩子學習1-10的次序
請不要太急切去教1-100,不然孩子會失去學習的興趣,因為對他們來說太難了。先教1-10。利用日常生活的物件,例如10個蘋果、10隻小熊,教孩子1-10的概念。當中,小孩子亦應該慢慢掌握多1的概念,即是1個蘋果加多1個就是2個,再加多1個就是3個,如此類推。如果孩子能做到,請你叫孩子tick上checklist的第一格,並讚賞孩子。

-Understand tens stay the same in each row/Understand ones repeat from 1-0 in each row
Let your child observe the similarity of each row. Let your child understand tens stay the same in each row. For example in the row of 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 and 29, the digit in tens is 2. And let your child observe digits in ones in each row. They repeat again from 1, 2, 3, 4 , 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 to 0. If your child can do it, let them tick the second box of the checklist. Remember to praise him/her.
-讓孩子了解十位在每行是相同的/讓孩子了解每行的個位 1-0 是不斷重覆的
讓孩子觀察每一行的相似性。讓孩子了解十位於每行是相同的。例如,21,22,23,24,25,26,27,28,29的十位都是2。然後,再讓孩子觀察每行的個位,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,0是不停重覆的。如果孩子能做到,請你叫孩子tick上checklist的第二格,並讚賞孩子。

Let your child observe the similarity of each column. Let him/her understand ones stay the same in each column. For example, in the column of 1, 11, 21, 31, 41, 51, 61, 71, 8and 91, the digit in ones is 1. If he/she can do it, let him/her tick the third box of the checklist. Remember to praise him/her.

讓孩子觀察每一列的相似性。讓孩子了解個位於每列是相同的。例如,1, 11, 21, 31, 41, 51, 61, 71, 81 和 91, 的個位都是1。如果孩子能做到,請你叫孩子tick上checklist的第三格,並讚賞孩子。

-Count 1-100
After the steps above, your child should have a better understanding of counting and sequencing. He/she can now try to count from 1-100. If he/she can do it, tick the checklist.
